Its core objective is to study the importance of consistently establishing, affirming, and maintaining professional business ethics. It provides guidelines to establish such procedures, examples, and mentions several companies recognized worldwide for their business ethics.
General objectives:
· Discuss the importance of business ethics and that it is part of the culture of a professional and a company.
· Understand the functions performed by the Puerto Rico Insurance Commissioner
· Cite reasons for mandatory and discretionary disciplinary action against insurance agents.
· Explain the naming, advertising, and record-keeping rules that insurance agents and insurance companies must follow.
· Understand the methods used by the Office of the Insurance Commissioner and the Department of Financial Services to communicate with insurance agents.
· Understand the broad ethical duties that an agent owes to policyholders.
· Describe the activities that are considered unfair trade practices and methods of competition.
· Describe the difference between authorized and unauthorized entities.
· Understand the key terms related to the insurance industry in Puerto Rico and some regulatory details in the state of Florida.
